Yoga – A Much Needed Stress Relief

This year, I have finally made yoga a regular part of my weekly schedule. With all of the running events I have been doing, combined with working out at the gym, it has become even more vital that I look after my muscles to prevent injury and fatigue.

The list of benefits that yoga provides is longer than your arm! It improves flexibility, muscle strength, posture, bone strength… increases blood flow, heart rate… decreases blood pressure…the list really does go on. But my favourite has to be the reduction in stress and increase in happiness.

After only a few months of yoga I have definitely felt more relaxed in my day to day life. I look forward to every yoga class I am going to attend because I know that during and after that one hour period, I will feel a greater sensation of calm, relaxation and happiness. It is certainly something I now never want to be without as it really does help give me a better quality of life.

I urge anyone who hasn’t tried yoga to get out there and do so. Immediately! And start reaping the benefits of a healthier and happier you. Oh, and if you happen to be in Manchester looking for a class, my good friend Liz at The Life Centre.
