What To Do After a Workout Or Run? 4 Must Dos

02 Apr 15  / Pete

Your workout or run isn’t over at the finish line or when you’ve done that last squat. You’ve still got a bit more work to do to get the best out of your exercise and maximise your recovery potential to it’s fullest.

Stretch

10 minutes. This is none negotiable. It will aid your recovery and make all the difference on your morning after aches.

Rehydrate

After any good run or workout, that body needs a good boost of water. Your levels have no doubt dropped and you need to top the tank back up.

Fuel

Feed those muscles! Probably my favourite rule of them all. Try and do this within 30 minutes of finishing your workout to maximise your recovery and muscle growth. After all that hard work your body deserves a good meal! You need some fast acting carbs and a good dose of protein.

Change of clothes

Don’t sit around in that damp, slightly smelly running top. Even if you are somewhere that you cannot have a shower right away, carry a spare set of clothes and get out of those damp rags as soon as you can.

That’s it! If you don’t have time for these steps then I really don’t think you have time for the workout or run. Some more pre-planning is needed before your next session. You need to free up some much needed time!
