Post-Workout Chicken, Chorizo & Prawn Paella – Recover With A Taste Of Spain

This is actually a really simple dish to make and takes just over 20 minutes. It is a super sharing dish for when you have guests over, and it is great to make a load for after your next run or gym visit. Protein and carb-packed. This is one of my favourites!

This will easily make enough for 4-5 people. Or if you live at my house, enough for 2 of us with lots of leftovers for me!


Here is your yummy shopping list:

  • 3 Chicken breasts
  • 500g of paella rice
  • 1 Red onion
  • 3 Sweet peppers – any colour combo you like
  • Chorizo
  • King prawns
  • 1 litre of chicken stock
  • 1 cup of peas
  • Paella spice mix

What do you do with all those yummy ingredients? Well…I’m going to tell you right now. So in Just over 20 minutes, you can be tucking in! Nom nom nom!

Cooking Instructions

  • Pour a couple of glugs of oil in your paella pan and fry the red onion (diced) for 1 minute.
  • Add all of the paella rice and mix it about so it soaks up the oil.
  • Add 1/2 of your chicken stock (500ml).
  • Now throw in your chicken (diced), chorizo, sweet peppers and spice mixture.
  • Now you have about 20 minutes until it will all be cooked.
  • Keep stirring everything so that it doesn’t stick to the pan.
  • Add more stock each time the rice has absorbed 90% of what is in the pan.
  • With roughly 4-5 minutes left, add your prawns and peas.

The whole dish should be done once all of the liquid has been absorbed. Now all you need to do is season and squeeze on some yummy lemon. You can also garnish with some fresh parsley.

Now just tuck in! Nom nom nom! You delicious little beast!
