Homemade Salmon Burgers – Simple. Yummy. Healthy. Boom! Get In!

These salmon burgers are packed with flavour and healthy goodness. They are one of my favourites! You can serve them on a wholemeal bap/bagel or if you have just done some exercise they are a great post-workout protein punch on a white bagel to get those muscles repaired good and strong! Boom! You’re smashing it.

Want to spice these bad boys up? You could go Thai style and add coriander to the mixture with some chopped chilli! Or maybe add some Greek flair with a tzatziki topping or serve with cucumber and yoghurt. Maybe some beefy tomatoes and feta are more your style? The possibilities are endless with a good salmon burger! You can serve it in so many different ways. On bread, a bagel, on pasta in a mustard sauce….I could spend all night coming up with suggestions!

One thing I do know, this is a tasty burger! Get them made. Get them smashed! Food roar!!!!

This will make 3 good sized burgers:

  • 1 Tin of wild salmon
  • 1 Large sweet potato
  • 1 Large egg
  • 1 Cup of panko breadcrumbs
  • A couple of sprinkles of mixed herbs

How to make them:

  • Microwave the sweet potato for 5 minutes or until you can easily get your fork to glide into the potato.
  • Scoop the potato out into a bowl and allow to cool. I pop my bowl in some cool water to speed this up.
  • In a large bowl mix all of your ingredients together.
  • Slap your mixture out onto a chopping board and separate into 3 roughly even piles.
  • With each mixture, simply roll in your hands and then flatten out to make your patties.

You can pan fry them, grill them or pop them in the oven. Grilling is the quicker option as I usually put them in the fridge for 30 minutes before pan frying to firm the mixture but on the grill you can easily cook them on top of some foil and there is no need for the fridge time!
