Healthy Breadcrumbed Fish – A Great Alternative To a Chip Shop Battered Fish

Were you thinking of popping down to the chip shop tonight to pick up a nice big fish? I have a healthy alternative that is still incredibly tasty. This is a great way of having your fish night and not feeling one ounce of guilt. Ooh…get here you fishy little beast!

Fish and chips. The English classic! Who doesn’t love it? I certainly do and I have no problem with eating a huge portion of it for a cheat meal every once in a while, but it is also great to have some fakeaway alternatives so that you can have a healthy version and not feel guilty for one single second. Get in there!

All you need is:

  • 1 portion of white fish per person. I use cod or haddock. Hake is also a great option.
  • Some panko breadcrumbs. You will find these near the Asian foods in the supermarket. Panko breadcrumbs are a Japanese style.
  • 1 whisked egg
  • Salt & pepper

Simply season your fish with salt & pepper, dip each piece in the egg so it is nice and covered, and finally sprinkle the breadcrumbs over to give it a good coating. Fry these in coconut oil in a frying pan on a medium heat until cooked through.

Simple, healthy and damn right awesome! Get in there you delicious fishy! Nom nom nom!
